It’s Christmas Choir Time!
Choir rehearsal begins this Wednesday, October 3rd at 8:00 p.m. We would love to have you join the choir for the Christmas Season! If you are interested, it’s not too late to sign up at the Information Counter. Both former and new members are needed.
 
Men’s Prayer & Breakfast
Men’s Prayer & Breakfast is Saturday, October 6th, at 8:00 a.m. in the Conference Room (102). Join us for a time of prayer, followed by breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
 
The Great Pumpkin Fest
FUN, SAFE & FREE EVENT for your Family & Friends on Wednesday, October 31st, 6:30-8:30 pm
There will be games, candy and lots of fun! Invite your family and friends!
 
PATRON SAINTS . . .Thank you to all who have donated already! We have about one fourth of the funds that are needed for generator lights, games and other supplies. If you would like to be a Patron Saint to help fund this event, please mark your giving envelope “Patron Saint”. No amount is too small. Your generous donations are what make this neighborhood outreach possible.
 
MORE CANDY NEEDED . . . There is a container on a table in the lobby for your candy donations, the kind that are individually wrapped.
 
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED . . . Men, women and youth of every age are needed for a variety of jobs: pre-event preparation, setup, helping with the games, clean up, etc. We especially need people to help set up on Wednesday, October 31st. A sign-up sheet is available at the Information Counter.
 
“TRUNK OR TREAT” . . . If you would like to be a part of our “Trunk or Treat” area for October 31st, there is a sign-up on the office window in the lobby. For more details, contact Pastor Lynn

“The Great Pumpkin Fest” Our annual event for families in our community will be on Wednesday, October 31st. Funds are needed for generator lights, inflatable games and other supplies. If you would like to be a Patron Saint to help fund this event, please make a note on a green card, stating your name and the amount you plan to give. When giving, mark your envelope, “Patron Saint”. We will also need lots of candy (the kind that are individually wrapped). There is a container on a table in the lobby for your candy donations. Thank you!
“Change Her Story” Our Convoy of Hope Women’s Ministry Project, “Change Her Story”, is going strong thanks to your support! Our giving provides impoverished and vulnerable women with financial education, vocational training and business start-up capital. Every $1,000 we raise will provide a woman with her very own business to support herself and her children. “Change Her Story” banks are available on the Information Counter. Feel free to pick one up and fill it with your loose change. When you return your bank, please put your name on a piece of paper inside your bank in order to receive giving credit. Follow our monthly progress on our “Change Her Story” poster on the Mission’s Board in the lobby.

Convoy of Hope Disaster Relief Convoy of Hope is currently providing disaster relief to the victims of Hurricane Florence. If you would like to participate in giving to the disaster relief, please indicate your donation by writing “Hurricane” on your giving envelope. You may also give online through our website, vccweb.org. We will be sending a check to Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Relief next week.

Precept Bible Study Precept Bible Study begins Friday, September 21st, 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Join us as we begin the study, “God’s Love Alive in You”. Through the short letters of 1st, 2nd, 3rd John, James and Philemon, we will gain practical insight on how to love one another the way Jesus loved us.
Adult Sunday School Class Our Adult Sunday School Class is using the series, “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan. Do you truly believe that the God of the universe loves you? “Crazy Love” will help you embrace God’s intense, relentless love for you and help you let that love transform every aspect of your being.
 
Wednesday Adult Bible Study Join us at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary for the series, “The Hidden Hand of God”. This study will explore the providence of God in our lives and how we can look for His work, even in the challenging events we experience.

Adult Sunday School Class Our Adult Sunday School Class is using the series, “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan. Do you truly believe that the God of the universe loves you? “Crazy Love” will help you embrace God’s intense, relentless love for you and help you let that love transform every aspect of your being.  Join us this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall as we begin this new class.

Children’s Ministry Worker Meeting Rescheduled
NEW DATE – Sunday, August 26, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
We have rescheduled the date for the Children’s Ministry Worker meeting for Sunday, August 26th. If you serve in our Children’s Ministry Department, please join us after service for an uplifting and encouraging time together over a BBQ lunch. There will be important Kid Builder updates and information regarding new class groupings, curriculum and schedules. A $5.00 per person donation will help us cover our cost. Please SIGN UP at the Information Counter for this new date.
 
Ladies’ Prayer & Breakfast

Sunday School
There will be no Sunday School Classes August 5th through September 2nd in order to give our teachers a well deserved annual vacation. Sunday School Classes will resume on Sunday, September, 9th.
 
Wednesday Night Bible Study
There is no Adult Bible Study during the month of August. Bible Study will resume on Wednesday, September, 5th.
 
Glen Davis Honorarium
We will be providing an honorarium for Glen Davis in appreciation for his teaching during the four Sundays of August. If you would like to help with this honorarium please mark your giving envelope “Glen Davis” on the line designated “Other.” – Thank you, Pastor Kevin

CHANGE HER STORY
We have reached our SECOND GOAL of $1,000 and we have now changed TWO women’s stories, giving them dignity, hope and their own businesses!!! You can join us as we work toward our next $1,000 goal. Pick up a “Change Her Story” bank at the Information Counter and fill it with your loose change. When your bank is full, you may leave it at the Information Counter. Be sure to include your name on a piece of paper inside your bank when returning it in order to receive giving credit. Follow our monthly progress on our “Change Her Story” poster on the Mission Board in the lobby.
